Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized India’s crucial position in global peace efforts during a recent phone conversation with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Sybiha highlighted Ukraine’s reliance on India’s authoritative voice and proactive engagement to help bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war and support broader international peace initiatives.

In their discussion, Sybiha provided Jaishankar with an update on the current battlefield dynamics and Ukraine’s ongoing push for a “just peace.” Both ministers agreed to further strengthen bilateral ties, with plans to meet during the upcoming UN General Assembly high-level week in New York. They aim to advance cooperation across multiple sectors, including politics, trade, technology, and high-level diplomatic exchanges.

Jaishankar confirmed the conversation, reiterating India’s support for an early resolution to the conflict and the establishment of lasting peace. This diplomatic outreach aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s balanced engagement with both Ukraine and Russia, as demonstrated by his recent discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscoring India’s commitment to stability and peaceful dialogue in the region.
