President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially appointed Jamila Ali Khalid as the new High Commissioner of the Maldives to the United Kingdom. The letter of appointment was presented during a ceremony held at the President’s Office this morning.
Ms. Khalid’s nomination was submitted to the People’s Majlis on August 16. Following a thorough review by the Foreign Relations Committee, her appointment was unanimously approved by the Parliament floor with 100 percent support from the 59 members present during the vote.
A seasoned public servant, Jamila Ali Khalid has previously held high-ranking positions within the state. Notably, she served as the Maldivian Ambassador to Germany during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Additionally, she has served as a member of the Civil Service Commission and has contributed extensively to the education sector and state media over several years.
