President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended warm felicitations to the King and Prime Minister of Malaysia on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day. In separate official letters addressed to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the President conveyed greetings on behalf of the government and the people of the Maldives.
In his message to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, President Muizzu highlighted the enduring bond of friendship between the two nations, rooted in over half a century of mutual respect and cooperation. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to elevating this fraternal relationship to new heights for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Furthermore, in his letter to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the President emphasized the significant progress achieved in economic and other key sectors through high-level engagements and close people-to-people ties. He expressed optimism that the ongoing partnership would continue to foster new opportunities for both Maldivians and Malaysians. Formal diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Malaysia were established in 1968.
