Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized India’s constitutional commitment to equality and inclusive governance during his address at the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Uzbekistan’s capital on Tuesday.

Speaking at the global parliamentary forum, Birla highlighted how India’s democratic framework ensures equal rights for all citizens, regardless of religion, caste, or gender. “The essence of our Constitution lies in its promise of justice, liberty, and fraternity for every Indian,” he stated.

The Lok Sabha Speaker also showcased India’s parliamentary traditions, underlining their role in strengthening democracy and fostering socio-economic development. His remarks come amid global discussions on upholding democratic values and addressing challenges to inclusive governance.

Birla’s participation at the IPU assembly included bilateral meetings with parliamentary leaders from over 100 countries, focusing on enhancing inter-governmental cooperation. The event, themed “Parliamentary Diplomacy: Building Bridges for Peace and Understanding,” saw discussions on conflict resolution, sustainable development, and technological governance.

India’s delegation reiterated its commitment to multilateralism, with Birla advocating for greater parliamentary collaboration to tackle global issues like climate change and economic inequality.
