President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu arrived in Dhaalu Meedhoo on Friday to celebrate the electoral success of Suha Ibrahim, the People’s National Congress (PNC) candidate recently elected as the President of the Meedhoo Council.

The visit follows a closely contested election for the council presidency. After the initial vote resulted in a tie between two candidates, a subsequent election was held yesterday to resolve the deadlock. Suha Ibrahim emerged victorious in the follow-up poll, securing the council leadership for the ruling party.

President Muizzu arrived on the island at approximately 5:00 PM. He is scheduled to attend a special celebratory gathering tonight to mark the political achievement. Suha Ibrahim, the newly elected council president, is also a relative of First Lady Sajidha Mohamed.
