President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasized that the continuous strengthening of the police service is essential for maintaining the Maldives’ trust and prestige on the global stage. These remarks were made in a statement issued to mark the 93rd anniversary of the Maldives Police Service.
In a post on the social media platform X, the President extended his greetings to both current and former members of the institution. He highlighted that a robust and professional police service is vital for ensuring the security and confidence of Maldivian citizens, foreign residents, and international visitors alike.
President Muizzu further urged the Maldives Police Service to remain steadfast in their commitment and sincerity. He noted that upholding these values is crucial to fulfilling the institution’s mandate and achieving its national objectives.
While policing in the Maldives dates back to 1933, the Maldives Police Service was officially established as a separate civil institution on September 1, 2004. The President’s message underscored the historical importance of this transition in modernizing the nation’s security framework.
