At the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful address calling for decisive global action against terror financing and radicalization. He highlighted the recent Pahalgam terror attack as a stark reminder of the need for accountability, urging member nations to hold countries supporting cross-border terrorism responsible.

Modi emphasized three core pillars for SCO cooperation: security, connectivity, and opportunity. He stressed that peace and stability are essential for prosperity and advocated for firm, unified measures to combat all forms of terrorism without double standards.

In terms of connectivity, the Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s support for key infrastructure projects like the Chabahar port and the International North-South Transport Corridor. He also spotlighted opportunities in innovation, youth empowerment, and shared heritage, proposing a new Civilizational Dialogue Forum to strengthen cultural ties among SCO nations.

Modi welcomed the establishment of SCO centers tackling organized crime, drug trafficking, and cybersecurity, and called for similar reform in global multilateral institutions, including the United Nations. He thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for hosting the summit and congratulated Kyrgyzstan on assuming the SCO presidency. The summit concluded with the adoption of the Tianjin Declaration, marking a step forward in regional collaboration.
