UNITED NATIONS – India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish, criticised Pakistan at the UN Security Council, accusing the neighbouring nation of pursuing an agenda to harm India and its people. Mr Harish specifically addressed what he termed Pakistan’s “false and self-serving” account of “Operation Sindoor”.

Responding to remarks made by an elected member of the Security Council from Pakistan, Mr Harish stated that Pakistan’s representative had advanced a “single-point agenda to harm my country and my people.” He further elaborated on “Operation Sindoor,” asserting that Pakistan had threatened further attacks on India until 9th May, before its military reportedly contacted the Indian military directly on 10th May to request a cessation of fighting.

Mr Harish informed the council that evidence of the destruction caused to multiple Pakistani air bases by the Indian operation, including images of destroyed runways and burnt-out hangars, is publicly available. This account was reportedly corroborated by a recent assessment from a Switzerland-based military think tank. The assessment concluded that the Indian Air Force’s air superiority over significant areas of Pakistan “coerced” Islamabad into seeking an urgent ceasefire, as it lost the ability to contest during the four-day conflict.

Further Allegations and Regional Stance

During his address, the Indian representative also highlighted Pakistan’s continued alleged connection with terrorism, stating that such links could never be normalised. He further called out Pakistan for what he described as interference in India’s internal matters, specifically reiterating India’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir. “The Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir has been, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India,” Mr Harish affirmed.
