The Ministry of Health has officially awarded contracts for the development of new, additional facilities at health centres in three distinct islands across the Maldives. The agreements were formally signed at a special ceremony held today at the Ministry, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional healthcare services.

For the R. Vaadhoo Health Centre, the construction contract was awarded to Fenaka. This project, valued at MVR 5.7 million, is slated for completion within one year. The expansion will introduce a range of new amenities, including a dedicated nurse station, a four-bed ward, a private patient room, a procedure room, a modern laboratory, a garage, essential store rooms, and a laundry facility.

Further strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the contract for the new additional building at Th. Kandoodhoo Health Centre was secured by MTCC. This substantial project, with a budget of MVR 21.8 million, is expected to be finished within 390 days.

Additionally, MTCC was also awarded the contract for the expansion of the K. Himmafushi Health Centre, an initiative valued at MVR 11.2 million, with a projected completion timeline of 360 days. The Himmafushi development is comprehensive, encompassing a nurse station, two four-bed wards, two private rooms, a procedure room, a laboratory, a garage, general and medical store rooms, an X-ray room, and a laundry room, promising a substantial upgrade to local medical provisions.
