A 43-year-old woman has been apprehended in Lh. Naifaru under allegations of drug possession, usage, and trafficking. The Maldives Police Service identified the suspect as Aishath Rizna, a resident of N. Velidhoo.

Following her arrest, she was presented before the court to determine her custodial status. The presiding judge ordered her to be remanded in custody for a period of 15 days while the investigation proceeds.

The arrest took place during a specialized operation conducted by the Naifaru Police Station on May 10. Acting on a court warrant, officers searched the suspect’s residence, where they discovered 53 rubber packets containing substances suspected to be illicit narcotics.

The Maldives Police Service is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the extent of the trafficking network involved.
