The Maldives Police Service has apprehended three individuals, including a 21-year-old woman, following a targeted anti-narcotics operation in the capital city, Malé. The joint operation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

The suspects have been identified as Hussain Shavin (26), Maryam Isha Ashraf (21), and Mohamed Nahil (25). According to official reports, the arrests took place during a raid on a residence in the Maafannu district, where authorities uncovered a significant quantity of illicit items.

During the search, officers confiscated 1.7 kilograms of suspected narcotics, 230 drug-infused vape cartridges, 26 bottles of vape flavoring, and a bottle of alcohol. The suspects are being investigated on charges involving the possession, use, and trafficking of illegal substances.

Following their initial court appearance, the Criminal Court ordered Hussain Shavin and Maryam Isha Ashraf to be remanded in custody for 15 days. Mohamed Nahil was granted a five-day remand period. The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
