The Maldives Police Service has released two of the three individuals apprehended during a drug enforcement operation conducted in Lh. Naifaru last month.

Authorities initially arrested the trio on June 25th following a court-authorized search of a residence in Naifaru. During the raid, police discovered 37 rubber packets containing substances suspected to be narcotics, along with various items believed to be utilized in the sale and distribution of illicit drugs.

The suspects were identified as 41-year-old Adam Hassanfulhu and 36-year-old Mohamed Shifazu, both from Naifaru, alongside 28-year-old Sam Saju, an Indian national. Following their initial arrest, all three individuals were remanded in custody for a ten-day period.

Police confirmed today that upon presenting the suspects for a second remand hearing, the court ordered the extension of Adam Hassanfulhu’s detention for an additional five days. However, the court opted to release the other two suspects, Shifazu and Saju, from custody as the investigation continues.
