The Maldives Police Service has apprehended two individuals in connection with a burglary at a retail shop in Feydhoo, Addu City. The recovery of the stolen merchandise and the arrests were successfully executed within 24 hours of the crime being reported.

According to official reports, the theft was reported to the Gan Police Station on July 13. Following the report, an immediate investigation was launched, leading to the interception of the suspects in Maradhoo later that evening. The two men were traveling on a motorcycle when police conducted a search, discovering a crowbar and a bag suspected to have been used in the break-in.

Subsequent searches of the suspects’ residences in Hithadhoo, conducted with the owners’ consent, led to the recovery of several high-value items. These included four electric drills, a grinder, a tablet, a mobile phone, and various cutters, along with the shop’s cash drawer and keys. All recovered items have since been returned to the shop owner.

The suspects have been identified as Ahmed Fareed (42) and Hussain Rasheed (42), both residents of S. Hithadhoo. Upon being produced before the court, both individuals were ordered to be remanded in custody for a period of 13 days as the investigation continues.
