President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Ibrahim Rashad, a distinguished statesman who dedicated over 45 years of service to the Maldivian state.
In a formal statement shared on social media, the President lauded Mr. Rashad as an exemplary, honest, and hardworking figure. He characterized the veteran official’s passing as an irreparable loss to the nation, praising his commitment to enhancing public services during an era prior to modern technological advancements.
Mr. Rashad’s illustrious career spanned nearly five decades, during which he held numerous high-ranking positions. He notably served as the Atoll Chief for both Faadhippolhu and Kolhumadulu atolls. Furthermore, he served as the Commissioner of Elections for over six years and held significant roles as a Minister of State and the Principal Collector of Customs.
Recognized for his integrity and adherence to administrative principles, Mr. Rashad was a recipient of the National Award of Honor for his long-standing service to the state. He passed away today at the age of 78, leaving behind his wife and three daughters.
