The Maldives Police Service has concluded a two-day awareness initiative aimed at educating the business community of V. Keyodhoo on the rising threats of scams and financial fraud. The program, which took place from August 12 to 13, is part of a broader effort by the police to ensure public safety and establish a more secure community environment.

During the initiative, police officers visited all retail outlets, cafes, and restaurants across Keyodhoo. Information was shared regarding common scam tactics targeting businesses and the preventive measures that can be implemented to safeguard operations. Officers also provided guidance on identifying fraudulent activities and suspicious messaging patterns within online marketplaces.

Furthermore, business owners were advised to exercise extreme caution when dealing with unknown callers and to remain vigilant against impersonation attempts. The police emphasized the importance of not engaging with suspicious calls and provided clear protocols on how to report suspected criminal activity.

In addition to financial fraud, the police conducted security assessments of local shops to address theft concerns. Findings from these assessments were shared with proprietors, along with recommendations on how to enhance the physical security of their premises.
