The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced another round of walk-in interviews to recruit drivers for the government’s eagerly anticipated taxi line. This initiative marks a continued effort to staff the new public transport service.
MTCC, already a key provider of public transportation in the Malé area, has been tasked with operating this new taxi service. According to an announcement by the company, walk-in interviews are scheduled to take place tomorrow, March 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Maafannu Bus Terminal.
This follows previous recruitment drives, with MTCC aiming to hire a total of 407 drivers. Of these, 122 positions are designated for part-time work, offering flexible employment opportunities.
The government had initially projected the launch of this service for February of this year. However, the service has not yet commenced. When operational, the taxi line will utilize electric vehicles and is slated to provide 24-hour service across the designated areas, as previously stated by the government.
