The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has expressed profound honor in completing the renovation of the Tsunami Monument Park, which has now been officially reopened to the public. The project, which involved significant structural repairs, ensures the preservation of a site dedicated to the memory of the 2004 Tsunami disaster.

In a statement released on social media platform X, MTCC highlighted that the area, formerly known as ‘Thin Ruh Park,’ has been redesigned to offer a safe and tranquil environment for children, the elderly, and families. The company emphasized that the park serves as a vital symbol of national history and remembrance.

Structural work on the project commenced on February 26 of this year, primarily focusing on the western side of the park where erosion and wave action had damaged the coastline. MTCC’s scope of work included the removal of old sheet piles, their replacement with new structures, and a comprehensive repair of the quay wall to ensure long-term durability and public safety.

With the completion of these works, the Tsunami Monument Park stands as a revitalized community space, blending historical significance with modern infrastructure for the residents of the capital.
