Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader and Maamigili Constituency Member, Qasim Ibrahim, has issued a public warning regarding a scam currently circulating under his name.

In a statement on X this evening, Mr. Ibrahim revealed that fraudulent messages are being disseminated across WhatsApp groups and various social media platforms. These messages falsely claim that he has decided to provide MVR 50,000 in cash support to all struggling households during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mr. Ibrahim clarified that the links, often accompanied by AI-generated photos and questionnaires, are entirely unrelated to him and represent illegitimate transactions. “Such scammers cause many to waste their time and bring distress and hardship upon numerous individuals. Therefore, I am sharing this information to alert the public,” he stated. He further added, “May Allah protect the Maldivian Muslim community from such deceitful acts.”

The issue of scams is a significant concern in the Maldives across various contexts. In response, the Maldives Police Service has established an Anti-Scam Centre to investigate and address such cases.
