Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Commissioner of Police Mohamed Ahmed have formally commended the police diving team for their exceptional bravery during a recent high-risk recovery operation. The meeting took place at the Commissioner’s Office to honor the officers involved in the mission near Alimatha, Vaavu Atoll.
The operation focused on recovering missing Italian divers from a deep underwater cave. During the ceremony, which was also attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikuree and other senior executive officers, the Minister and Commissioner praised the divers for their courage and resilience under extremely hazardous conditions. They highlighted the importance of such dedication in fulfilling the police service’s legal and civic responsibilities.
The recovery effort was conducted with the technical assistance of international specialists.
