Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially introduced a new digital platform, the “Harbor Portal,” designed to streamline and enhance marine operations within the lagoon area of Velana International Airport (VIA).
According to MACL, this modern system will facilitate online procedures for vessel parking and permit acquisitions. The initiative aims to elevate service standards for stakeholders while providing the company with an efficient mechanism to monitor harbor records and daily operations. This transition to a digital interface is expected to foster greater transparency in vessel management.
The implementation of the Harbor Portal will follow a phased rollout. The initial stage focuses on the registration of vessels and raising public awareness about the new system. MACL has already commenced information sessions for vessel owners to provide technical guidance and practical support for the transition.
Vessel operators have until the end of July to complete their registration on the portal. MACL has stated that once the system is fully operational, all access to the VIA lagoon and its associated services will require prior authorization obtained through the Harbor Portal.
