The Maldives Meteorological Service has officially established the nation’s sixth manual weather station at Maafaru International Airport. This new facility joins the existing network of manual stations located in Kadhdhoo, Hanimaadhoo, Kaadedhdhoo, Gan, and Hulhule, marking a significant expansion in the country’s weather monitoring infrastructure.

According to the Met Office, operations at the Maafaru station commenced yesterday. The establishment of this station is a strategic move to bolster aviation weather support at the international airport, ensuring that flight operations are conducted with the highest levels of safety and precision.

The Maldives Meteorological Service highlighted that the Maafaru station will facilitate the provision of accurate, real-time atmospheric data. This development is expected to significantly enhance forecasting capabilities and provide essential support for the safe execution of aviation operations throughout the region.
