A 39-year-old man has been taken into custody in Lh. Hinnavaru on allegations of narcotics possession, trafficking, and use. The suspect, identified by the Maldives Police Service as Ali Hamid from Rathubageecha, was apprehended during a targeted operation conducted on May 26.

The operation was a collaborative effort between the Hinnavaru Police Station and the Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit, initiated following a specific intelligence report. During a search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers discovered 20 rubber packets containing substances suspected to be narcotics.

Following his arrest, the individual was presented before the court, which ordered a 15-day remand in custody. The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the case is currently under further investigation as they work to address drug-related activities in the region.
