A fire that broke out on a fuel barge at the fuel jetty in F. Feeali has been successfully brought under control. The incident, which occurred at approximately 09:30 am today, resulted in significant damage to the barge and several nearby vessels.
According to official reports, the fire spread beyond the initial vessel, affecting two dhonis and two dinghies moored in the vicinity. The blaze also impacted nearby infrastructure, including an ice plant and a fuel shed. Maldives Police confirmed that fire damage was sustained by the fuel dispensers and various sections of the shed structure.
One expatriate worker stationed on the fuel barge sustained burn injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) confirmed that the fire was fully extinguished by approximately 10:35 am.
