Authorities have successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle illicit narcotics into Maafushi Prison using a drone. The operation was conducted as a joint effort between Maafushi Prison, the Maafushi Police Station, and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

During the coordinated operation, officers discovered and seized five rubber packets containing substances suspected to be illegal drugs. According to the police, the preliminary weight of the confiscated contraband totaled 395.92 grams.

While the illicit materials have been taken into police custody, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far. The Maldives Police Service confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible for the smuggling attempt.
