The Maldives Police Service has arrested a 58-year-old man in Addu City on suspicion of purchasing stolen property at significantly undervalued prices. The operation, conducted by the Gan Police Station, led to the apprehension of Abdulla Umar at his residence in S. Maradhoo following a court-authorized search.

During the raid at the suspect’s home, ‘Faagathi,’ authorities recovered 65 separate items believed to have been acquired through illegal transactions. The confiscated goods included power tools, pressure washers, speakers, lighting equipment, and various other household maintenance gear.

Investigations revealed that the items had been stolen from multiple residences across Addu City by different individuals before being sold to the suspect. Police confirmed that several recovered items have already been identified and returned to their rightful owners.

The suspect was presented before the court for a remand hearing, where the presiding judge ordered him to be held in custody until the conclusion of his trial. The Maldives Police Service continues to investigate the matter and has issued a public appeal urging citizens to refrain from purchasing goods of suspicious origin or those offered at unusually low prices.
