Police Investigate Abrar Group Following Last-Minute Umrah Trip Cancellations

The Maldives Police Service has initiated an investigation into Abrar Group following the company’s last-minute cancellation of Umrah pilgrimage trips. The cancellations, which affected 110 pilgrims scheduled to depart during the final ten days of Ramadan, led to a temporary suspension of Abrar Group’s operating permit by the Islamic Ministry.

According to the Islamic Ministry, the trips were cancelled without a valid reason. The police confirmed today that the matter had been reported to them and that necessary procedures are being undertaken as part of their investigation.

Alternative Arrangements for Pilgrims

Separately, the Hajj Corporation facilitated the departure of 164 pilgrims who were unable to travel for Umrah due to various reasons. These pilgrims were sent on a chartered Maldivian flight last night.
