Zelenskyy expressed appreciation for Modi’s supportive stance toward Ukraine and highlighted the significance of global unity during these turbulent times.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Zelenskyy revealed that the leaders explored various topics, including diplomatic strategies and mutual cooperation. “We agreed to plan a face-to-face meeting in September during the UN General Assembly and to work on an exchange of visits,” he stated.

The discussion took place against the backdrop of intensified hostilities, with Zelenskyy briefing Modi on recent Russian strikes, including an attack on a Zaporizhzhia bus station that left dozens injured. He criticized Russia’s unwillingness to pursue a ceasefire despite diplomatic opportunities.

Modi reiterated India’s commitment to a peaceful resolution, emphasizing support for initiatives that restore stability. The leaders also reviewed progress in India-Ukraine relations and explored avenues for deeper collaboration.

Zelenskyy further addressed the need for stricter sanctions on Russian energy exports to curb Moscow’s war financing. “It’s crucial that leaders with influence over Russia convey strong messages,” he asserted.
