A 62-year-old man sustained injuries following a road accident in Hulhumalé Phase 2 on Monday morning. The collision, which involved a car and a motorcycle, occurred near the Vinares flats.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the accident was reported at approximately 07:44 AM at the intersection of Heenaamaa Hingun and Dunburigas Magu. Two individuals on the motorcycle were affected: the 62-year-old Maldivian driver and a 24-year-old Maldivian male passenger.

Both victims were transported to Hulhumalé Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway.

This incident highlights a concerning rise in road accidents within the Hulhumalé area. It follows a separate serious accident last Saturday in Phase 2, which left a nine-year-old girl in critical condition; she remains on a ventilator at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
