Police Cyber Crime Center Warns of Rising Google Account Hacking Scams

The Police Cyber Crime Center has issued a warning about an increase in Google account hacking attempts through scam links.

According to the center, scammers are sending fake links claiming to be from the Gedhoruveryaa Portal login page, which then prompts users to log in to their Google accounts. When users enter their credentials, their passwords are compromised and obtained by scammers.

The center advises users to enable two-factor authentication on their Google accounts to protect against such scams. Police clarified that the legitimate Gedhoruveryaa Portal does not send login links and can only be accessed through e-Fas.

The Cyber Crime Center has requested the public to report any suspicious links by calling 911.

Additionally, police have noted an increase in Telegram account hacking through phishing links that claim to contain photos. These scam messages typically come from trusted contacts whose accounts have been compromised. The links request phone numbers and OTP codes, which, if shared, give scammers control of the victim’s Telegram account.

If a Telegram account is compromised, users should:
– Uninstall and reinstall the Telegram app
– Reactivate the account
– Enable two-step verification
– Use a strong password
– Add a recovery email

Police emphasize that users should never click on suspicious links, even if they appear to come from trusted contacts, as these are phishing attempts designed to compromise accounts.

The authorities strongly advise maintaining vigilance against these evolving cyber threats and implementing proper security measures to protect social media and messaging accounts.
