Police to Host “Coffee with a Cop” Event Tomorrow

The Maldives Police Service has announced a special community engagement initiative called “Coffee with a Cop,” scheduled for tomorrow to facilitate informal conversations between police officers and the public.

As part of ongoing efforts to provide community-oriented policing and better understand public concerns, the police have been organizing various outreach programs. “Coffee with a Cop” was initially launched in December as a series of planned community engagement events.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the police announced that tomorrow’s event will be held at Hiya Park in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. The public has been invited to join the gathering for friendly conversations with police officers.

The inaugural “Coffee with a Cop” event was also held in Hulhumale’ Phase 2, specifically at Burzu B8 in Vinares Flat 8, where it was open to all residents of the area.

Police described the initial event as a successful start to their community outreach efforts, noting significant participation and productive discussions in an open environment.

These initiatives are considered crucial steps in building public trust and strengthening community relations, according to the police. They have expressed gratitude to all participants who attended previous sessions.

Prior to this initiative, the police had also conducted a nationwide “Walk and Talk” program aimed at establishing a safer community, strengthening relationships, and identifying public concerns across the Maldives.
