The Maldives Police Service has arrested two foreign nationals in Malé following the seizure of 133 bottles of alcohol during a targeted operation. The arrests were the result of a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence.

According to police reports, authorities conducted searches at three separate locations linked to the suspects, leading to the recovery of the illicit items. The individuals taken into custody have been identified as 27-year-old Mamnur Rahman, a Bangladeshi national, and 26-year-old Ometharan Kandasamy, an Indian national.

Both suspects are accused of possession, consumption, and the commercial distribution of alcohol. Following the completion of initial police procedures, the two men were handed over to Maldives Immigration for further action under the Immigration Act. Additionally, a motorcycle used by the suspects has been impounded by the police.

The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the matter remains under active investigation to identify any further connections to illegal trade networks.
