Authorities in Malé have apprehended two individuals following a successful operation that led to the seizure of over one kilogram of illicit narcotics.

The suspects have been identified as 35-year-old Mohamed Fauzan, a native of Gaafu Alif Villingili, and 29-year-old Zakir Hossain, a Bangladeshi national. The arrests were made during a coordinated operation conducted last Thursday by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

Following their apprehension, the suspects were presented before the court to determine their remand status. The court ordered Zakir Hossain to be remanded in custody for 15 days, while Mohamed Fauzan was granted a 10-day remand period. The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the case remains under active investigation.
