The Maldives Criminal Court has ordered the 10-day remand of two individuals apprehended while allegedly attempting to cut an electrical cable. The arrests were made following a tip-off from a member of the public who observed the suspicious activity.
According to the court order, the suspects are identified as 42-year-old Ahmed Sinahu of Th. Thimarafushi and 37-year-old Ali Hussain of K. Kaashidhoo. The court has mandated that both men remain in custody as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities reported that a cutting tool, specifically designed for severing cables, was discovered in the pocket of one of the suspects at the time of the arrest. Both individuals face allegations of attempted theft and attempted damage to property.
During the remand hearing, Sinahu denied the charges, asserting that he had no involvement in the incident and was located a significant distance from the scene when the arrests occurred.
