Three individuals remain under medical observation at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) following a maritime collision near the Presidential Jetty in Male’ on Thursday night.

The accident, which occurred at approximately 9:10 PM, involved a speedboat and a dhoni. Five individuals—comprising one Maldivian male and four foreign nationals—were initially transported to the hospital for treatment. IGMH officials confirmed that while two patients have been discharged after receiving emergency care, three others remain admitted in the ward for further treatment. The hospital has not disclosed the nationalities of those currently hospitalized.

The Maldives Police Service’s Marine Police division reported that the dhoni involved in the incident fled the scene immediately after the impact without stopping. Authorities are currently conducting an extensive search for the vessel and have appealed to the public for any information that may assist in the investigation.
