The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has officially taken over the management and operation of the electricity network in Hulhumalé Phase 2.

This transition was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between STELCO and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC). The agreement was signed by STELCO’s Managing Director, Dr. Ali Azwar, and HDC’s Managing Director, Brigadier (Rtd) Ali Zuhair.

While the power network in Hulhumalé Phase 2 was previously operated by HDC, STELCO has now assumed full responsibility for all aspects of the network. As part of this new arrangement, HDC has also allocated land in Phase 2 for STELCO to establish a dedicated Emergency Response Center.

During the official ceremony, STELCO further demonstrated its commitment to the partnership by donating a set of light posts to HDC to support ongoing infrastructure development in the area.
