The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation following a road accident in Hulhumale’ on Wednesday morning, where a pedestrian involved in a collision with a motorcycle left the scene before authorities arrived.

According to police reports, the incident was reported at approximately 8:03 AM on September 2, 2026. The accident occurred on Hithigas Magu as a motorcycle traveling northbound struck a pedestrian attempting to cross the road near the Vinares 6 apartment complex.

Authorities confirmed that both the motorcyclist and the pillion rider sustained various injuries during the impact. However, the pedestrian involved had already departed from the area by the time police officers reached the site of the accident.

The Maldives Police Service is currently conducting a thorough investigation to identify the individual and clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
