Maldives Police Service have apprehended six Maldivian men suspected of orchestrating violent assaults involving sharp-edged weapons across Malé and Hulhumalé. The arrests were executed following a targeted operation conducted last Thursday night.

According to official police reports, the suspects were taken into custody after authorities searched a guesthouse and its vicinity on Raiveriyaa Hingun under a court order. During the raid, officers seized a folding knife and MVR 39,695 in cash.

The individuals arrested include two 30-year-olds, along with individuals aged 21, 23, 32, and 34. Upon being presented to the court for remand hearings, four of the suspects were ordered into custody for a period of 15 days, while the remaining two were released under specific conditions.

The Maldives Police Service stated that the investigation remains active as authorities probe further into the planned criminal activities and potential motives behind the plot.
