The ‘Minivan Run,’ a 5-kilometer event organized to celebrate the Maldives’ Independence Day, concluded successfully in Hulhumale’ Phase 2 with significant public participation. The event was held through a collaboration between the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage and VeeRun Maldives.

The run was officially inaugurated by the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage, Heena Waleed. Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister described the event as an excellent opportunity for families and friends to spend quality time together in a vibrant atmosphere. She further emphasized the importance of exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, noting that the favorable weather allowed for both running and walking categories.

Participants from various age groups joined the event, expressing their appreciation for organizing sporting activities alongside national celebrations. Many noted that such events are vital for strengthening family bonds and social cohesion. Participants also shared their positive experiences with the media, highlighting the sense of community fostered during the run.

Upon completion, all participants were awarded commemorative badges in recognition of their efforts. Following the success of the event, VeeRun Maldives has announced plans to expand the ‘Minivan Run’ to other cities across the Maldives during next year’s Independence Day celebrations.
