The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage has officially commenced work on the ‘National Respect Project,’ a key initiative pledged by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to foster social harmony.

Minister Heena Waleed inaugurated the project’s first consultative meeting held at the Ministry’s Ishwaru Hall today. The session brought together various civil society organizations, clubs, and associations to gather diverse perspectives and collective feedback on the initiative.

According to the Ministry, the primary objective of the project is to revive and promote the long-standing Maldivian traditions of good character, etiquette, and mutual respect. This effort aims to re-establish the core social values and Islamic manners that have historically defined the Maldivian community.

Speaking at the event, Minister Heena Waleed emphasized that President Muizzu attaches great importance to this project. She noted that it is designed to instill a culture of mutual respect among citizens, highlighting that inclusive participation from all sectors of society is vital for the successful implementation of this large-scale national endeavor.
