President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated the first skating and skateboarding arena in Male’ this afternoon. The state-of-the-art facility, located in the Usfasgandu area, marks a significant milestone in the development of urban sports in the Maldives.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed joined the President at the opening ceremony of the park, which was developed by Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The project was completed in a total of five months; the skating rink was finished within three months, followed by the skateboarding section which took an additional two months.
During the event, President Muizzu spent time interacting with young skating enthusiasts and participated in a commemorative group photo. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, highlighted that the new arena will provide Maldivian athletes with a professional environment to train for international competitions. He further noted that the facility enhances the Maldives’ capacity to host major international sporting events in the future.
