President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conveyed his deepest condolences to the Prime Minister of Nepal following the devastating floods that have claimed numerous lives and caused widespread destruction.
The disaster, triggered by a severe snowstorm in the Nepal-Tibet border region, resulted in glacial meltwater surging into rivers. The subsequent flooding has led to approximately 100 confirmed deaths, with hundreds more reported missing. Reports indicate that several international tourists are among those unaccounted for.
In a formal message addressed to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, President Muizzu expressed his profound sadness over the loss of life and the severe impact on livelihoods and property. He extended the sincere sympathies of the Maldivian government and its people to the bereaved families and the government of Nepal.
Concluding his message, the President offered his best wishes for the recovery efforts and prayed for a swift recovery for those injured during the catastrophe.
