The Maldives Police Service is seeking the rightful owner of a motorcycle currently in their custody, which is suspected of being stolen. The vehicle was intercepted by authorities on July 13, 2025, at the intersection of Koarukendi Magu and Buruzu Magu in Malé City.
According to the police, the motorcycle was taken into custody after officers observed that the engine number had been deliberately tampered with and filed down to conceal its identity. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the registration number plate displayed on the vehicle was fraudulent and did not belong to that specific motorcycle.
Further inspection of the vehicle’s chassis number revealed that it does not correspond with any registered vehicle records in the national database. Despite ongoing efforts, authorities have been unable to identify the owner of the vehicle.
The police urge the owner or anyone possessing information regarding the motorcycle to contact the Traffic Investigations Department at 9444880. The Maldives Police Service also expressed gratitude to the public for their continued cooperation and support in such matters.
