The Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation following the discovery of a man’s body inside a residence in Male’ City on Wednesday.

Authorities reported that the discovery was made at a house located on Faashanaakilegefaanu Magu. Police received the initial report at approximately 13:10 on April 1, 2026. Preliminary external examinations of the deceased did not reveal any immediate signs of physical injury or foul play.

However, officials noted that due to the state of the body and the significant time that has elapsed since the individual’s passing, a forensic examination is required to establish the exact cause of death. The police stated that they are currently making the necessary arrangements to conduct an autopsy.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Maldives Police Service has committed to providing further updates to the public as new information becomes available.
