The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has announced that applicants for the government’s social housing program may submit copies of their National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) registration cards as valid proof of disability.

This clarification follows reports of widespread confusion regarding the documentation required to verify disability status under the “Family Housing” (Ailaage Boohiyaavahikan) program. The initiative, part of the “Housing for All” policy, includes a dedicated category specifically for individuals with disabilities residing in Malé.

In a statement released on social media platform X, the Ministry confirmed that the NSPA card serves as sufficient evidence of registration as a person with a disability. This move aims to streamline the application process and ensure that eligible citizens can access social housing benefits without administrative delays.

The window for applications under this specialized category remains open until 11:59 PM on April 30, 2026. Interested parties are advised to submit their applications through the government’s dedicated online portal within the stipulated timeframe.
