In a significant step toward decentralizing essential services, new offices for the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) and the national health insurance scheme, Aasandha, have been officially inaugurated in Addu City.

The offices were opened during a special ceremony held on Monday by the Minister of Social and Family Development, Dr. Aishath Shiham. The event was also attended by the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, and the CEO of NSPA, Heena Waleed.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham highlighted that the establishment of these offices will provide immense relief to the residents of Addu City, who previously had to travel to Malé for administrative and healthcare-related welfare services. She noted that this move allows citizens to complete necessary procedures within their own region.

“The opening of these offices today will provide a permanent solution to the challenges faced by the public in seeking social protection assistance and accessing Aasandha and NSPA services for medical treatment,” the Minister stated.

Furthermore, the Minister confirmed that these regional branches will also extend services to residents of Fuvahmulah City and Huvadhu Atoll. The new setup is expected to significantly reduce waiting times for document processing and application responses.
