The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has filed a formal police report against an employee following a data breach involving the “Male’ Taxi” mobile application. The incident, which came to light two days ago, involved the unauthorized leak of private user information across various social media platforms.

Initial concerns regarding an external hack were dismissed by MTCC officials, who clarified that the breach was an internal matter. A company spokesperson confirmed that the individual responsible for the leak has since been terminated from their position. The matter is now being investigated by the Maldives Police Service.

According to MTCC, the company’s ICT network security team first identified unauthorized modifications within the backend database system. In response, technical teams initiated an immediate security lockdown and system shutdown to protect user data and maintain system integrity.

The company announced that the server and backend infrastructure for the Male’ Taxi Line were successfully restored and secured by 11:30 PM last night. MTCC has assured the public that the platform is now safe to use and that taxi services continue to operate without further disruption.
