Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially commenced the provision of water and electricity services to vessels docked at Zone A of the Malé North Harbor. This development marks a significant upgrade to the harbor’s utility infrastructure, which previously limited such services to Zone B and Zone C.

The expansion of services follows a directive from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, issued upon the completion of the second segment of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project. MPL initiated the technical work to establish these utility systems in March this year to ensure the harbor could meet the growing demands of maritime transport.

With the new facilities operational, Zone A is now equipped to provide electricity to up to 48 vessels simultaneously. Additionally, 16 designated water points have been installed to facilitate a seamless supply for boat operators. MPL stated that these enhancements are aimed at providing greater convenience and improving operational efficiency for all vessels utilizing the harbor area.
