Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has officially handed over a newly developed public toilet and shower block at Rasfannu to the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development. The facility was developed under “Badhahi,” the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The handover ceremony took place yesterday afternoon at Rasfannu, where MPL’s Deputy CEO, Mohamed Mueen, formally presented the facility to the State Minister for Infrastructure and Housing, Ismail Hameed. MPL noted that the project was initiated following a specific request from the Ministry.

The modern facility includes two toilets and a dedicated shower area, specifically designed for inclusivity. Features include accessible entry and exit points for persons with disabilities, as well as amenities suitable for children and the elderly. The project’s architectural drawings were produced by MPL’s Projects Department, while the physical construction was executed by the company’s Facility Department personnel.

This addition aims to enhance the experience for visitors at Rasfannu, a popular beach area in Malé. The swimming zone of Rasfannu was previously renovated by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and reopened to the public last June as part of ongoing government efforts to improve urban recreational spaces.
