The Maldives Police Service has apprehended a 44-year-old man in the capital city, Malé, following the seizure of approximately 38 grams of suspected narcotics.
According to authorities, the suspect has been identified as Fathuh Adam Hassanfulhu, registered under Dhaftharu No. DR 071. He was taken into custody during a targeted operation conducted on the night of April 8, 2026, by a joint team from the Counter Narcotics Intelligence and the Drug Enforcement Department.
The arrest followed a court-ordered search of a residential property in Malé, where the illicit substances were discovered. Following his apprehension, the suspect was presented before the court for a remand hearing, resulting in a 10-day detention order to facilitate further investigation.
The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the case is currently under active investigation as they work to curb the distribution of illegal drugs in the region.
