Male’ City Council has revealed the design for the new stage that will replace the existing structure at Alimas Carnival area after its demolition.

The Alimas Carnival was originally opened in 2004 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Majeediyya School. The City Council decided to modernize the deteriorating area in July last year.

After releasing the design renderings last night, the City Council announced that a contractor had been assigned to the project last Friday.

According to the Council, UH Investment Private Limited has been awarded the contract to demolish the existing stage and develop a new one in the carnival area under their supervision.

The stage construction project is valued at 4.8 million rufiyaa and is scheduled to be completed within 140 days.

Male City Mayor Adam Azim shared images of the new stage design on “X” (formerly Twitter), stating that the long-neglected and deteriorating stage will soon be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility.

The City Council clarified that the Carnival’s new stage project was approved by the current council floor after Mayor Azim assumed office.
